About UsFirst Community Bank of Hillsboro was organized, chartered and opened in 1998 by a group of local investors who felt the need for a locally owned and controlled bank. We opened for business in May 1998 with total capital of $2.7 million and a staff of 10 people, all of whom had prior banking experience in Hillsboro. Since then we have grown in total assets to over $70 million and a staff of 24. Our main banking office was relocated to 807 South Main Street in 2001. We have been proud to add to our service offerings as the bank grew. In 2002 we added telephone banking, enabling our customers to access information about their accounts by telephone. In 2003 we added e-safe, enabling our customers to receive their statements by e-mail. And in 2004 we added CDARS which permits large deposit Certificate of Deposit customers to keep FDIC insurance on amounts up to $10 million, all in our bank. In January 2005, we went "online" offering internet banking to our customers. For our business accounts we are now offering remote deposit service and equipment leasing. In 2011 we have added VISA credit cards to the array of financial services available to our customers both, person and business.
